On the day of the event, more than 90 teams and 2,568 swimmers from 29 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan entered the water from the bank of Sanhe Square in the city's Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park, crossed the Yellow River with a straight line distance of about 1,300 meters, and swam to the opposite bank of Taiyangdu Landing in Pinglu County, Shanxi Province.
