>Los Angeles Gu Dong: "Writer" I returned to Hong Kong two years ago and got a business card from Brother Lam Yin, the vice chairman of the Hong Kong Writers Association. Following the format of a general business card, Brother Lin printed four small characters on the title line, that is, above the name: "Columnist." I recently returned to Hong Kong. My old friend's position as vice chairman is still secure, but his business card has been transformed into a new one. The "columnist" has become a "professional writer." I teased him and said, "Brother, I finally got married. Congratulations!" Unexpectedly, he replied with a straight face: "I get scolded a lot! You deserve to be scolded too. You have to show off your brand name and still have to dodge it!" The reason was that in order to facilitate contact with literary friends, I also printed a business card and wore it in the name of a member of the Los Angeles Writers Association, with the four small words "freelance author" underneath. For this reason, Brother Lin asked rudely: "What does it mean to be a free author? Aren't other authors free?" It's not that Xiao Xiao is extremely humble. Even Mr. Zhou Yu, the president of our association, claims that he has never considered himself a writer! Is it because the hat of "writer" is too big and heavy, or is it too ostentatious and uncomfortable to wear, so everyone avoids it? The problem obviously lies in the word "home". In the final analysis, I believe that the old problem of literati being indifferent to each other is at work. Are you considered a writer too? I'm afraid if you just show off a little bit, someone over there will already curl their lips and say, "Come on, come on!" They may even openly put quotation marks on you to point out that you are self-proclaimed and to ridicule you. Some juniors like Gu Dong, who were already lacking in talent, were given a bluff and their feet were weak. In order to show "humility", they had to explain it on a small card. I am just a young author in the Writers Association. I am already ashamed. Please be kind and show your respect! But having said that, literary friends can see at a glance that since the title of chairman or member of the Writers Association is on the business card, the words "professional writer" and "freelance writer" below are just a redundant and redundant thing. It was Chairman Zhou who cleverly avoided the judges' sticks by saying "Free submissions for amateur authors", which made Gu Dong couldn't help but clapped his forehead and applauded! So, is a writer really that noble and unattainable? But not necessarily. If you are like Jin Yong and Ni Kuang, with numerous works piled up into gold, you will undoubtedly be admired and admired. Lin Yin and others are also good. Their works are well-received and they can support their families with their writing. They can be called real "writers". But except for a few masters who can be counted, how many overseas authors can really "write" to make a living? Let me tell you, we almost all publish books out of our own pockets, and most of the articles we publish in newspapers are free of royalties! It is true that articles are different from paper money, and the two should not be compared with each other, but to be honest, being a poor writer who has no way to make money is not necessarily particularly glorious! According to the dictionary's explanation, "writer" is just a person who "writes articles". To put it bluntly, he is a person who loves to play word games and is good at making things out of nothing! Mainland students have a saying: "Men study engineering, women study medicine, and the naughty ones study literature and art." Engineering and medicine, as well as business and law, are all hard and real studies that must follow certain rules and regulations. They must learn and do things in a strict manner, and no random things are allowed. As for literature and art, you can create on your own and express yourself freely. It relies on talent and skills, or it must be somewhat romantic and uninhibited, which can be said to be flashy. So people call us "teachers" and we call them "home". There must be some reason for this! In the past, some writers thought very highly of themselves and were always willing to lecture others. It's no longer possible. There are many people who write better articles than you. You still hold the idiots that others don't want as your treasures, and you are laughing at other people's belly! Just wait and see, there is no need to criticize anyone, the computer and TV at home will sooner or later kill you all! Under this situation, wonderful works are still produced, and great works are constantly being released by talented people. They are already in a class of their own, and they don't care what you think of them. The sad thing is that we young writers have gone astray. When we can't exchange an article for a bag of peanuts, we are still stubborn and persist to the end. We are willing to work hard for just a few words, but we can only look forward to "home". If you still have a little compassion, please put away your stick and let us climb over the threshold of the writer's family, so that we can use the fire there to cook a few words to satisfy our hunger, okay? A family composed of writers, or writers, is called a Writers Association, or it may not be called a Writers Association. The name is different, but in fact it is the same. They are all one inn. The road ahead is still full of thorns. No matter which door we come out of, people on the same path will form different combinations along the way, all for the purpose of taking care of each other and supporting each other, instead of excluding each other and looking down at each other!
