Local families

December 8, 2012 is a good day in the sun. Today I am going to attend the birthday party of Aunt Xu’s 80th birthday. Every year on a certain day in December, Aunt Xu's daughter Xu Kailai and son-in-law Charlie hold a birthday party for Aunt Xu. This year is no exception and has special significance - the 80th birthday party. As early as half a month ago, we received a warm invitation from Gloria to hold a gratitude banquet in "Lantian" to thank the church and surrounding friends for their help and support to Aunt Xu and their family over the years. For health reasons, we, as a couple, originally did not eat in restaurants or buffets for dinner, but Gloria's warm invitation was an exception. We happily accepted the invitation and promised to attend on time.

After listening to the pastor's sermon at the church at noon that day, I immediately drove to the "CHINA KING RESTAURANT" opposite the church. When I entered the hotel, I saw the "Blue Sky" restaurant. It had been renovated and it was already full of customers. Mr. and Mrs. Gloria and Aunt Xu were already waiting in the private room. Soon everyone arrived one after another, exchanged greetings and sat down one by one. There were quite a few guests attending, including familiar friends and some unfamiliar friends, filling three tables. At the beginning, on behalf of the whole family, Kai Lai expressed his gratitude to all the guests, thanking all the elders, friends and colleagues for their concern and care for her mother over the years, their support in her work and their help to their family. Today happens to be Aunt Xu’s 80th birthday, so today’s party is a birthday party with thanksgiving. I hope all the elders and colleagues are healthy and happy! Aunt Xu, the birthday girl, also gave a speech: I would like to thank my friends for their care and help over the years, and also thank Charlie for his care and love for me. Since my husband returned to his home in heaven, he was afraid that I would be alone, so he took me to live in his home and took care of all my daily life like a son. I thank God for giving me such a good daughter and son-in-law.

Before the banquet, Uncle Wang will say a prayer of thanks for the meal! Today's dinner was very sumptuous, starting with a dish of crabmeat and fish maw soup, followed by exquisite dishes, including chicken, duck, fish, shrimp, and crab. Everyone ate deliciously and talked happily at the dinner. Those of us who didn't go to the restaurant were all eaten to our stomachs. Today we are lucky enough to sit at the same table as the birthday girl, Aunt Xu, and a specially ordered birthday cake was placed on our table. ah! It was such a big, exquisite and beautiful cake. The waiter Bang hurriedly inserted eight candles for Zheng Zheng’s 80th birthday. After lighting the cake, he asked Aunt Xu to make a good wish. I made a wish silently in my heart: I wish Aunt Xu peace and happiness every year! The waiter cut the cake for everyone and asked for your opinions: should you like fruit or taro? Unexpectedly, one cake can have two flavors. Even though I was very full, I couldn't resist the temptation of the sweet cake. It was so good that I didn't feel hungry even if I didn't eat for three days. After having enough tea and dinner, all the guests took a group photo! It was already getting late, so everyone stood up and said goodbye reluctantly, cherishing each other, blessing each other, and wishing that next year would be better!

On the way home, I talked to my husband about today’s Thanksgiving birthday blessing dinner, and I was filled with emotion! The filial piety and love shown by Mr. and Mrs. Kelley to their mother are truly touching and worthy of our study and imitation. Sister Xu Kailai is Aunt Xu's only daughter. When Uncle Xu was seriously ill, she accompanied her mother and took care of Uncle Xu in every possible way. After Uncle Xu passed away, she took up the heavy responsibility of taking care of and accompanying her mother. Taking her mother into her own home to live together so that her mother would not feel isolated and lonely. With her daughter, son-in-law, and two little granddaughters by her side, Aunt Xu's later life was full of happiness and joy.

In today's society, how many children can be like the Glorias, who honor their parents, think about their parents at all times, regard honoring their parents as their indispensable responsibility, and never give up. The Bible teaches us in Exodus 22:12 (the fifth of the Ten Commandments): "Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Amen! May all children in the world honor their parents like Mr. and Mrs. Gloria, and may Xu’s mother spend her remaining years peacefully in the filial piety and love of her daughter and son-in-law, and be happy and joyful in the love and grace of Heavenly Father! May all parents in the world be happy and happy in the great love and mercy of our loving Heavenly Father! Amen!
