The injured congresswoman will attend to watch her husband's space shuttle launch. U.S. Congresswoman Giffords, who is recovering steadily from a brain injury suffered from a gunshot, has obtained permission from the rehabilitation hospital to attend the launch of the space shuttle Endeavor in person. And her husband is the commander of this space mission. Astronaut Mike Kelly told CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric that Senator Giffords' doctor in Houston, Texas, said she could fly to Cape Canaveral, Florida, to watch Friday's launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Kelly is the commander of the space mission. U.S. President Obama and his family will also attend to watch the launch of Endeavor's final mission. This will be Giffords' first trip since flying from Tucson to a rehab facility in Houston on Jan. 21. She was previously shot on January 8th. Six other people died in that incident. The victims included a 9-year-old girl, a federal judge and a congressional staffer. The accused gunman, 22-year-old Loughner, has pleaded not guilty to 49 counts stemming from the attack.
