The governor hopes to complete the presidential candidate nomination early. Alberta Times Governor Brewer hopes to advance the state's presidential candidate nomination election to January 31, instead of the usual June. The governor said in a statement recently that Arizona is ahead of other states in advancing national issues such as combating illegal immigration and strengthening border security, health care spending and fiscal crises. She hopes that the presidential nomination election will also lead the country and let more people know about Arizona. Brewer also said that the early introduction of presidential candidates in Arizona, a stronghold of the Republican Party, will have a significant impact on the entire presidential election process. The governor is expected to formally announce the plan in the near future, but it is likely to spark heated debate at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
