Moving company overcharged (Alberta News) A Dallas-based moving company was exposed for overcharging customers while helping them move from Indiana to Chandler, home state. Mr. Shante, who is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, said that after he handed the goods to the moving company on July 25, he had no information. He did not receive it until last Saturday, almost a month late. Moreover, the moving company also raised the price from the original $4,700 to $8,200, which made Shante furious. The moving company charged based on weight, and the original estimate given to him was about $6,900. However, after the goods were loaded, the moving company claimed that the weight increased by 12,000 pounds compared with the original estimate, so the price had to be increased. Shan Te was dissatisfied and called the police for help. The weights and measures department re-weighed the goods last Saturday and determined the weight of the goods to be 7,940 pounds. Shante finally paid $5,546 to receive the goods. A total of three companies were involved in the matter. Among them, the moving company's business license in Arizona has been suspended, and the incident was handed over to the police for investigation. In order to avoid the above-mentioned incidents, Shante calls on everyone not to be greedy for cheap and try to deal with large companies. Don’t panic when something happens, calling the police is the most legal way to deal with it.
