(reported by our reporter Zhen Songwei in Los Angeles) To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China, more than a thousand expats and mainstream dignitaries attended the Centenary National Day reception hosted by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of the Republic of China in Los Angeles. The banquet hall of the Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles Studios was lively and brilliant. In front of the door stood a large "100" ice sculpture decorated with the blue sky and white sun flag. The huge blue sky and white sun flag in the venue was particularly eye-catching. The golden "100" symbolized the 100th anniversary of the Republic of China. Attending the reception were Los Angeles County Supervisor Antonovich, California Comptroller Jiang Junhui, Spanish-American Congressman Livda Sanchez, and Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Gong Zhongcheng, former Executive Yuan President of the Republic of China Tang Fei, etc. Director Gong Zhongcheng said in his speech that the 100 years of efforts of the Republic of China and the ideas of Sun Yat-sen, the founding father, can be realized through the Republic of China. Then, Director Gong Zhongcheng and the guests cut the "100-Year Blue Sky and White Sun Flag" cake.

On October 8th, the Double Ten National Day flag-raising ceremony of the Republic of China was hosted by the California Taiwanese Friendship Association and attended by traditional overseas Chinese communities. The ceremony was grandly held at Barnes Park in Monterey Park, Los Angeles. At 10:10 a.m., the entire audience saw the national flag singing led by Chairman Chen Jianbang of the Chinese Association, former Chairman Wu Jingqun, Vice Chairman Ma Guowei and others. The sky was blue and the ground was red. The national flag slowly rose and flew over Southern California together with the National Day of the United States. Then, four people including Li Liyang, Hou Minzhong, Bu Junli, and Ying Tianhua from the American Chinese Flying Association flew the Jieshou trainer aircraft in a column over Barnes Park. People waved national flags and cheered.

Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Gong Zhongcheng and his wife, federal Congressman Zhao Meixin, California Congressman Wu Guoqing and other elected officials as well as representatives of traditional overseas Chinese communities cut the Centennial National Day cake on the stage. In his speech, Gong Zhongcheng pointed out that a series of centennial celebration events held in Southern California this year, including the flag-raising ceremony, the "Brilliant 100" concert, and the National Day reception, all set records. Participating in the performance were the flag corps of the three armed services, the American and Canadian Alumni Association of Air Force Children's School, the ceremonial parade of Beiyi Female Alumni, the China Joint Alumni Association of Colleges and Universities, the National Taiwan University Alumni Association, etc.
