On November 8, a new mayor of Phoenix will be voted on, with two mayoral candidates, Wes Gullett and Greg Stanton, competing in the final round. This is an important election that will affect the entire city of Phoenix for the next decade or more. If you're a Phoenix citizen, why should you care about the election? The mayor will set the direction and themes of urban development. Will you pay more taxes and fees? Do you care about the police and fire departments being more responsive to 911 complaints? Want to drive on safe and clean streets? There are many great reasons to vote for mayor. On October 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, former Arizona Representative Huang Shijun and Greater Phoenix Chinese Overseas Chinese Association Chairman Deng Chaoju will hold a debate for mayoral candidates at Luk Fook Restaurant. Chinese societies and organizations are welcome to participate in and sponsor the event. $35 per seat, seats 10 people. Participating groups please contact Huang Shijun at 602-850-4300 or Barry@barrywong.com. The public is welcome to sign up and there is no charge.
