The endangered squirrel is reproducing rapidly (Alberta Times) The already endangered mountain Graham's red squirrel is reproducing in southeastern Arizona, with its population increasing by 12 percent, wildlife officials say. According to the Arizona Game and Fish Department, there are currently 240 red squirrels in the Pinolina Mountains, 26 more than last year. The population of Graham's red squirrels soared to about 550 in the 1990s, but usually only numbers 200 to 300. Their habitat has been destroyed by wildfires, insect infestations and drought.
