> Occupy activists have occupied Cesar Chavez Plaza in downtown Phoenix for more than a month. Protest sites that have taken over the country over the past few weeks have been cleared by local police, and Phoenix police began clearing Cesar Chavez Plaza on Tuesday morning. Police entered the square and demolished a dozen tents belonging to the occupiers. Phoenix Police Department officials said they took down the tents because some protesters were sleeping in the square. City officials and protesters have an agreement, a police sergeant said, that demonstrators can stay and protest, but not sleep. When the police find any protester with his eyes closed, that means the protester is asked to leave the square. During the operation, police came into contact with three protesters. One was given a warning and the other two were arrested after the warnings failed. Additionally, their tents were dismantled and confiscated. After cleaning workers came in to clean the square, more than 10 occupiers continued to protest in the square. Since the Occupy Phoenix movement began, police have arrested more than 100 people.
