When Phoenix police launched a forceful eviction operation against demonstrators on November 30, they twice used pepper spray to disperse a group of "Occupy Phoenix" protestors. Police spokesman Crump said that the "American Legislative Exchange Summit" was held in Phoenix for a three-day summit. The police set up a protected area to maintain law and order. Crump said that two groups of demonstrators attempted to cross the protective line set up by the police, so the police twice sprayed pepper spray on the people. He declined to say how many people had been sprayed with pepper spray. He said that when demonstrators encountered police, they became aggressive "anarchists." Crump said the arrested demonstrators will face charges of criminal damage and assaulting police officers. This is another incident in which police used pepper spray to disperse the crowd after California police sprayed pepper spray on students who stepped up demonstrations in Davis. After the former's video was released online, two police officers and an officer were suspended from duty. The annual meeting held by ALEC discusses issues related to job creation, health care, improving education and initiating economic growth. Participants in the annual meeting included members of the 50 state parliaments and business people.
