A member of the Arizona Transportation Commission reminded that the sandstorms this summer have not only caused great damage to the state's environment, but also caused inconvenience to transportation. The fatal car accident caused by sandstorms on Interstate 10 should attract everyone's attention. TTC member Steve Christie told his colleagues at a meeting last week that motorists and landowners have the right to know the source and direction of dust storms in advance to reduce accidents. A "Dust Task Force" affiliated with the Arizona Department of Transportation is looking for a variety of solutions, including identifying accident-prone locations, improving storm forecasts, and installing dust detection and blowing sand warnings. Christie has pushed the issue since joining the committee three years ago. In October this year, a sandstorm killed three people, including two teenagers, in a car accident on Highway 10, which strengthened his determination to implement the plan.
