Sheriff Apao was accused of discrimination and the judge heard. Sheriff Apao, there has been a lot of bad news recently. After the Department of Justice accused him and his subordinates of "widespread civil rights violations" on the 15th, federal District Judge Snow held a hearing on the 22nd on the lawsuit filed by Hispanics against Arpaio for racial profiling. The plaintiffs in this case are a group of Hispanics. They claimed that police officers on duty at some traffic signals stopped the vehicle for no reason and asked about their immigration status just because they saw Hispanics in the car. Judge Snow can make three rulings: 1. Let the case go to trial. 2. The case shall not be accepted and the dispute shall be settled accordingly. 3. Ruling that Apao enforced immigration laws based on racial discrimination. The plaintiffs asked the court to rule that Arpaio and his subordinates violated their constitutionally guaranteed rights and to declare that protections against racial discrimination must be enacted. There are an increasing number of lawsuits filed against the Arpaio Sheriff’s Office over its enforcement of the new immigration law. Dozens of immigration jail police officers at the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office have lost their federal authority to check inmates' immigration status and surrendered their federal identification badges on the 21st as the Justice Department accused Arpaio and his subordinates of civil rights violations. Among the lawsuits filed this week is a lawsuit filed by a female Hispanic inmate who accuses county staff of violating state and federal prison rules by keeping her in shackles during her pregnancy, even after she gave birth by C-section in 2009.
