Asia Police are under investigation (Alberta Times) Peoria Patrol Officer Schirer was investigated by the Secret Service after he posted a photo on his Facebook page earlier last week of allegedly using a statue of Obama as a target for shooting during President Obama's visit to the state. In addition to the aforementioned photo, the police are also investigating another photo posted online on the 19th of this month, which shows several young people in the desert holding various weapons (including submachine guns and revolvers) and holding a sweatshirt with a suspected portrait of Obama on it. The portrait is full of bullet holes. A spokesperson for the Peoria Police Department confirmed that it had received information that an officer in the department may have violated the regulations and that the Secret Service has contacted the department. The spokesman said: "We will maintain the positive image of the police department and make sure every police officer does this." Schirer has been in the police for at least 14 years. During the investigation, the police officer, who was awarded the Medal for Bravery and Rescue in 2007, will continue to perform his duties. Sources told the media that these photos did not pose a threat, and neither the young students in the photos nor the police officers who took the photos had the intention to threaten others. A Secret Service official confirmed that the agency is investigating the photos. He said: "We understand that people have the right to free speech, but we also have the right to ascertain the intentions of those involved. If we obtain information that shows that someone has an unusual interest in subjects protected by the Special Service, we will take appropriate follow-up actions." The photo on Seaver's website was posted during Obama's visit to the state earlier last week, and the photo showing the young man with the gun was posted online on the 19th. After the police investigation, the photos from Schirer's page were deleted. It is reported that a young man in the photo is a student at Centennial High School in Peoria, and the school has taken the initiative to launch an investigation.
