Rare snowstorm paralyzes traffic in Arizona (Alberta Times) After the state was suddenly hit by a late winter blizzard, the mountainous areas of Japan were still shrouded in heavy snow on the 19th. Heavy snow has caused schools to close and traffic to be paralyzed. CNN reported that the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the mountainous areas of central and eastern Arizona. The weather forecast said: "There will still be heavy snowfall in vast areas of Northern Arizona, and it will continue until Monday (19th). Driving will be very dangerous, especially in the mountainous areas." Flagstaff City in the north was still trapped in 10 to 14 inches of snow from the weekend to Monday, and schools in the city have announced closures today. Prescott also had 8 to 12 inches of snow. Strong winds and heavy snow also forced authorities to close a 180-mile section of Interstate 40 in northern Arizona yesterday. The State Highway Police said it would reopen to traffic pending further notice.
