Southwest Airlines flight was threatened and flight made emergency landing in Fengcheng (Alberta Times) The authorities are investigating the threat to Southwest Airlines flight. On Tuesday night, Southwest Airlines received three threatening messages threatening to place threatening items on three 737 aircraft. Among them, 1,184 were flying from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California to Tosha, Oklahoma. Southwest Airlines made an emergency landing at Phoenix Airport and underwent on-site investigation by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Phoenix Police Department. According to Southwest Airlines spokesperson Ashley Dillon, Flight 1184 had 125 passengers, including five crew members. Shortly after takeoff, they received news that there might be threatening items on board. They contacted the aviation authority and the FBI and landed at the Phoenix Airport at 7:30. Phoenix police closed the roads near the airport, leaving only emergency vehicles in and out. Anti-terrorism agents inspected the aircraft, but authorities did not announce whether any threatening items were found on board. There were two other similar threats, both in California. In addition to Flight 1184, Flight 811 was originally flying from Orange County to Phoenix. The flight was canceled after receiving threats before departure. The threat to the other flight was eliminated and passengers reboarded to their destination. By the early morning of the 9th, both planes were determined to be safe, but they stayed in place and passengers were arranged to take new flights to leave.
