Mexican industrial sewage enters Alberta and is prosecuted (Alberta Times) Alberta officials say the state is suing the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission for violating the Clean Water Act by allowing untreated industrial wastewater from Mexico to enter the state through Nogalas. The indictment was filed in Maricopa County Superior Court on Friday. The indictment states that Mexican sewage entering Arizona has caused serious contamination of the province's water sources. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality said it would ask the court to hold the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission responsible for the matter, either to implement intervention policies or to set up an international wastewater treatment plant in Nogalas to treat wastewater flowing in from Mexico. The U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission did not respond to requests for comment.
