Arizona Governor Brewer said the current tax cuts are enough (Alberta Times) Arizona Governor Brewer, who promotes Arizona in Germany, said in an interview on Tuesday that she can finally give Arizona's tax cuts a pause. Brewer said her tax cuts over the past two years have been a major driver of Arizona's economic recovery. Over the past two years, Brewer has signed a series of bills that included cutting capital gains taxes, providing tax incentives for new investments and ultimately cutting the corporate income tax by 30%. These tax cuts are expected to generate $630 million in revenue for the state. With this huge amount of tax money, the governor said that the tax reduction policy has almost achieved its effect and it is time to stop. However, Glen Hamer, president of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said he agreed with the governor's assessment of the state's current competitiveness, but said future growth would require larger tax cuts. The original legislation exempted businesses from the first equipment tax of $67,000. After this year's tax reduction legislation is signed, the tax reduction can reach $120,000. State Sen. Steve Yaroff, a Chandler native, said the government still has room to make a fuss here. A 30% corporate income tax cut is still too high. Hamer believes that in order to improve Arizona's economic competitiveness, in addition to the government's deepening investment in higher education, increasing tax incentives is also a good way. He also proposed promoting the I-11 interstate highway to shorten the distance to Las Vegas. From May 22 to June 4, Governor Brewer led a trade mission to France and Germany in Europe to promote Arizona’s trade and tourism industries. Last year, Germany was Alberta's sixth largest export partner, and France was tenth.
