Arizona victims who were defrauded by divorce lawyers will receive compensation (Alberta Times) Four years later, 25 victims of fraud by divorce lawyers will soon receive their compensation. According to the Maricopa County Prosecutor's Office, Gary Erpin was found guilty on October 24, 2008 of theft of legal services and failure to perform promised legal services. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $240,000 in restitution to the victims. From that point on, Kalpin attempted to avoid paying restitution to his victims by transferring assets to others. The Asset Bureau of the Maricopa County Prosecutor's Office determined that Calpin's assets totaled more than $197,000. The state of Arizona is contacting victims to get their money back, according to court documents.
