The latest professional car quality survey found that the quality of Lexus cars once again ranked first among all brands; at the same time, all car manufacturers have greatly improved their quality in the past ten years. Automotive research firm JD Power and Associates recently completed its 2012 vehicle quality survey. According to the survey, Lexus had the fewest problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Jaguar and Porsche, which produce luxury vehicles. Both brands ranked second at the same time, and Honda and Cadillac rounded out the top five. JD Power conducted a reliability survey of 74,000 owners of 2012-model cars, checking whether the car had experienced mechanical or electrical problems in the past 90 days, including problems with knobs and switches. This is the first major assessment of the quality of cars from the 2012 vintage. The assessment found Lexus had 73 problems per 100 vehicles. Since the Lexus brand began sales in 1989, its quality and customer service have always been far ahead. Among the major Detroit automobile manufacturers in the United States, Cadillac has the best quality, ranking fourth in this survey. Among mainstream brands, Honda has the best quality, ranking fifth in this survey. In the survey, the worst-ranked brands were the smart brands of Italy's Fiat and Mercedes, which had 151 problems per 100 vehicles.
