Maricopa County added a weather text message alert service. The weather suddenly changed on Monday night, and thousands of mobile phone users received weather warning text messages from Maricopa County, reminding phone owners of the threat of flooding. Waters, a spokesman for the National Weather Service, said: "We are providing a new service to send the National Weather Service's sandstorm warnings, flood warnings, etc. to the owners." The National Weather Service's critical text message service plan includes weather warnings, yellow alerts, presidential alerts, and even terrorist attack warnings. In theory, all mobile phones can receive it, but whether it can be received currently depends on your operator and mobile phone model. Most BlackBerry and Apple phones are temporarily unable to receive such text messages. Waters said the National Weather Service is in talks with major operators to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. There were flash floods in the Sunflower Wildfire area south of Payson on Monday night, but text messages could not be delivered there because the text message service could only benefit mobile phone owners in Maricopa County for the time being. If the owner does not want to receive alert text messages, instructions on how to opt out can be found on the operator's website.
