Danger Two companies recall hundreds of thousands of strollers Peg Perego is recalling hundreds of thousands of strollers because children may become trapped in trays and strangled. One baby has died. A 6-month-old boy in California was strangled to death in a stroller in 2004, and a 7-month-old girl in New York was nearly strangled to death in 2006, Paligo America reported. Palico is recalling approximately 223,000 carts, including Venezia and Pliko-P3 carts in various colors, manufactured between January 2004 and September 2007. Consumers should stop using these carts immediately and contact PegPerego USA at (888) 734-6020 or www.PegPeregoUSA.com to receive a free repair kit. In addition, Kolcraft is recalling 5,600 Contours Options Lt double strollers, model ZT012, sold between February and July due to potential infant fall and suffocation hazards. The reason is that the front wheel mechanism may suddenly break, causing the baby to fall out of the stroller. Cart basket support screws and nuts manufactured between January and February may come apart. Fallen nuts are a potential choking hazard. There were no reports of injuries to the baby. Consumers should stop using this cart immediately and contact Kolcraft to receive a free replacement wheel. People who purchased carts produced between January and February should also receive replacement nuts. The company's telephone number is (800) 453-7673 and its website is www.kolcraft.com.
