Brewer: The medical marijuana case has not changed (Alberta Times) Thirteen sheriffs from 15 counties in the state submitted a joint written report to the governor, hoping that the governor would expand the law on medical marijuana to more stringent procedures, but the governor refused. The sheriff's written report said government employees could face federal prosecution. However, Matthew Benson, a spokesman for the governor, said there are "no changes" regarding implementation of the state's voter-approved medical marijuana law. Last Tuesday, the state approved nearly 100 pharmacies to use "medical marijuana" licenses. Governor Brewer went to court seeking a federal law barring Arizona from enforcing medical marijuana laws, but a federal judge denied it. A judge in this state ruled in a separate case that Arizona must enforce this law, which requires dispensaries to obtain a state license to sell medical marijuana.
