Arizona leads nation in solar energy development Arizona ranks second in the U.S. in solar system installation and solar development, Gov. Jen Brewer announced Tuesday, ahead of many places across the country. The governor said growth in Arizona's solar industry will bring wealth to state residents. "Solar energy not only reduces our dependence on foreign oil, but also creates thousands of high-paying jobs for the state." According to a state government press release, since 2011, the state has created nearly 4,800 jobs in the solar field, with an application rate second only to California.
