> Bergen County Technical High School (Bergen County), a prestigious school in northern New Jersey Qinxin Li (transliteration, also known as Dana Li), a 10th-grade Chinese girl from the Academies (BCA), died on the 6th. Neither the police nor the school have announced the cause of death so far, but she was last seen wandering alone near the Washington Bridge that connects to New York City.
Principal Russell Davis sent two e-mails to parents at the school on the 8th, informing parents of the unfortunate news and calling on parents to pay close attention to their children's daily words and deeds. If they feel any frustration or stress, they should take immediate action and contact the school guidance office.
Davis stated in the letter that parents should be open to talking with their children and, if necessary, negotiate with the guidance office or the principal himself as soon as possible.
To commemorate Li Qinxin, the students of the school set up a memorial page on Facebook. On the 8th, they met to attend class wearing Li Qinxin’s favorite blue and green clothes. The whole school paid silent tribute before starting class in the early morning.
Davis pointed out in the letter that he received an inquiry from the police about the missing student on the morning of the 6th, and was later informed that Li Qinxin was dead. He said the school was deeply saddened by the news.
Although neither the police nor the school announced the cause of death, students all speculated that Li Qinxin chose this unfortunate tragedy.
> Bergen County Technical High School is located in Hackensack, enrolling students from grades 9 to 12. Admissions are highly competitive. The school's more than 1,000 students are all elites from Bergen County. Last year, they were selected as one of the best high schools in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The average student SAT score is as high as 2100 points, the second highest score among high schools in the United States.
The school has an excellent admission rate, is known as the preparatory class of Ivy League universities, and has a high proportion of Asian and Chinese students.
The parents of the deceased were both Columbia University scholars. The Chinese community at Columbia were all devastated when they heard the news. They believed that the main reason was insufficient communication between parents and their children.
