"Consumer Reports" reliability ranking, Toyota brand ranks in the top three (Alberta Times) Toyota's three brands - Scion, Toyota and Lexus - ranked among the top three in Consumer Report's annual car reliability rankings. Ford's reliability took the biggest hit. The company's Ford Touch information system and new power transmission system were complained by car owners, causing its ranking to drop to 27th out of 28 brands, from 20th last year. Cadillac was voted the most reliable American brand, rising to 11th place from 25th last year. Among the top 10 list, Asian brands account for nine, and the only foreign brand is Germany's Audi, ranked 8th. The other car manufacturers in the top 10 are: Mazda, ranked fourth, followed by Subaru, Honda, Acura, Audi, Infiniti and Kia. Three years ago, Consumer Reports praised Ford as the only U.S. automaker with "world-class reliability." Two years ago, the Ford brand also ranked in the top 10. Now, only Jaguar ranks lower than Ford. Consumer Reports is often criticized for favoring Asian automakers at the top, and the Big Three of Detroit are generally not ranked high. This report is based on the experience of 1.2 million new car owners.
