Phoenix plans to add light rail stations (Alberta Times) On Wednesday, Phoenix City Council approved a $120,000 construction plan to add two light rail stations. The preliminary plan for the two stations is to be located at 16th Street and 48th Street. Some people believe that at present, light rail stations are mostly located in business districts, and low-income residents in the old city (16th Street) need public transportation more. The Phoenix light rail has been running for ten years, with more than 50,000 passengers a day, and there are signs of overload. The operator currently has five expansion projects, of which the Mesa project has already started. The Phoenix light rail expansion project will also start next month, and other projects will also start one after another.
