After the Connecticut shooting, the governor did not confirm whether gun laws will be revised (Alberta Times) Arizona Governor Brewer released his views on the Connecticut shooting on Monday. She said she's "not sure" whether Arizona's law on carrying weapons in public, which she signed, will be revised. Brewer called the incident "absolutely horrific" and "heartbreaking." When asked whether Alberta would amend its gun laws, Brewer said evil people do not necessarily use guns to kill people. In the catastrophe of September 11, 2001, terrorists used airplanes. The governor believes school safety and mental health are more important than gun control. In the hands of mentally healthy people, guns are weapons to protect personal and property safety, but in the hands of mentally unhealthy people, they become murder weapons. As a Republican, Brewer does not support gun bans. Since taking office as governor in 2009, Brewer has signed a series of bills expanding Albertans' right to bear arms. Including allowing adults to carry concealed weapons, adults can carry firearms at any time in state-licensed bars or restaurants, although they are not allowed to drink alcohol. Brewer also recently signed a law allowing adults to carry weapons in public community college and university parking lots or garages.
