On the morning of January 30, a shooting occurred in an office building at the intersection of 16th Street and Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. After a mediation meeting, the 70-year-old gunman Harmon drew his gun and killed him. During the shootout, a 48-year-old man died on the spot. Another man and a woman were injured and sent to the hospital. The man died of his injuries on the 31st. On the morning of the 31st, the police found a body in Mesa City, believed to be the suspect who committed the shooting on Wednesday. Police confirmed that the suspect died from gunfire and the suspect's car was also found nearby. Police believe this was not a random incident but was premeditated. There was only one shooter. The office building where the crime occurred mainly houses several pharmaceutical-related companies. The gunfire frightened the company's employees, who locked their office doors and stayed away from the windows. SWAT teams also searched the entire building. Within minutes after the incident, several nearby schools were put on alert, and the police were also present to maintain law and order to prevent anyone from taking the opportunity to cause trouble. Although it was later confirmed that the shootout did not extend to the school, nearby residents expressed support for the police's actions. On the afternoon of February 1, a shootout also occurred at the intersection of 14th Street and Roeser Road in south Phoenix, resulting in one person dead and three others injured. According to police sources, four victims were gathering in a front yard to chat. A dark green 2002-2006 Ford carrying four men stopped. One of the men got out of the car and started shooting, causing a woman in her 50s to die. Another man in his 40s and two women in their 40s were seriously injured. The gunman fled without a trace after shooting. The police later cordoned off the area near the scene for investigation, but did not find the gunman. Police said it may be related to a gang vendetta. Residents in the area said that the location of the incident was an unstable community where security incidents often occurred. On February 2, a 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man were shot at 7th Street and Indian School Avenue. According to police, the 16-year-old boy was seriously injured, while the other victim's injuries were not life-threatening. Old Cantonese overseas Chinese in Alberta are used to translating Phoenix as "bandit hiding place", and they were once ridiculed by overseas Chinese as "a hiding place for bandits". Three gun battles occurred in just a few days, and the security situation in Phoenix is worrying.
