A woman and baby were found shot Thursday afternoon near Ahwatukee. The incident occurred at 18th Ave. and Liberty Lane, on the south side of South Hill, near 17 Ave. and Pecos Road.

According to Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Howard, the woman who was shot was in her 20s and was hit in the back of the head. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. According to reports, the baby was shot in the leg and his current condition is not optimistic.

As of press time, the identity of the woman and the baby have not been determined, and the police have not found any witnesses to the shooting.

The police are currently investigating whether the woman and baby were attacked nearby or were brought here.

After the incident, nearby residents expressed concerns about their own safety.
