Mexican police discovered an illegal tunnel connecting the US state of Arizona.
Mexico's National Security Council said that when authorities inspected a cross-border drainage pipe, they noticed an abnormality in the concrete surface and removed some surface materials before discovering the tunnel.
The committee said the tunnel is 31.5 meters long, of which nearly 1.5 meters are in Mexico and the remaining about 30 meters are in the United States. Part of the tunnel is supported by wooden beams, while the rest is filled with dirt and rocks. The exit has not yet been opened and is obviously still being excavated.
Illegal tunnels of this type are discovered from time to time by Mexican and U.S. authorities. Most of these tunnels were dug by Mexican drug cartels to transport drugs to the United States.
