Local families

During the festival, overseas Chinese have a deeper understanding of August 15th. The Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes reunion. In addition to family members, friends around us are also reunited. At 6:30 pm on September 10th, ten groups including the Phoenix Kaiping Association of Alberta, the U.S.-China Cultural Exchange Association, the Alberta PEN Club, the Alberta Writers Association, the Alberta Times, the Asian American Newspaper, the Tsinghua Alumni Association, the Sichuan and Chongqing Association, the Fengcheng Restaurant, and the Alberta Chinese Cultural Exchange Association held a grand Mid-Autumn Festival Gala at the Fengcheng Restaurant. More than 400 guests, including Yu Wenjin, a senior overseas Chinese leader, Zhen Shuoqin, president of the Kaiping Hometown Association, representatives from Kaiping Meisha sister cities and heads of various associations, came to watch the show, taste delicious food and admire the bright moon. At 6 o'clock in the afternoon, the thousands-square-foot Fengcheng Restaurant was almost full, with elderly people and children playing around, just like a big family. The lanterns were decorated, and the party was about to begin. I saw only a few children wearing Han folk costumes, happily running onto the stage, accompanied by lively music, kicking off the party. The Phoenix Martial Arts Society brought Han fan dance, Dai peacock dance and other ethnic dance series called "Fairy under the Moonlight", which attracted the attention of the guests. Hosts Zhang Huafang and Guan Zhaofeng walked onto the stage and told everyone, "There will be no long speeches or long introductions of VIP guests today, because all the guests today are VIPs." Ms. Gu Yayu from the US-China Culture and Art Exchange Association is the guest host of the entertainment program. She brought in Phoenix's adult choir. In the song "Half Moon Climbs Up", the male voice is strong and powerful, and the female voice is far-reaching and profound, bringing you the most timely vocal enjoyment. The dance "The Divine Fragrance of Dolma" presented by New Oriental Art School brought the audience to the mysterious and vast Tibet. Three young actors, Peng Tianyue, Xie Zhizhi, and Lu Yezhen, who have studied dance for many years, brought Dolma to life, sometimes playing by the stream, and sometimes singing in the snow-capped mountains! The dance "Jasmine" performed by Fengcheng Chinese Christian Church embodies another kind of softness. The three dancers, led by dance teacher He Chunling, held classical paper umbrellas and expressed the subtle and exquisite expression of the blooming jasmine. They are all friends who love dance in life. They spend two hours training every week. Dance has become a part of their lives, and now they dedicate their training results to community activities. "Mom, China" and "Flying to the Dream" selected by the Tsinghua Alumni Association evoked strong patriotic feelings. All the guests applauded and sang softly. "Changing Face" by Chen Zhigang, president of the Sichuan and Chongqing Association, became the finale of the party. The instant face change was completed in front of the audience. No one could see the flaw and could only cheer enthusiastically with conviction. Local people from the painting, calligraphy, martial arts, and theater circles, including painter Li Cheng, Tai Chi teacher Zhang Xinzhi, and fans Nie Jingjun, Yu Jiangying, and Zhou Guiqing all performed on the spot. The on-site lottery with rich prizes also made the event climax. The ten silver dollar prizes provided by Mr. Guan Zongren made the lottery a surprise. There will be food, fun, and food throughout the party! The beautiful moon delicacies brought the guests a fascinating Mid-Autumn Festival night.
