Ms. Lu Xin, Vice Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Education, led a delegation to visit Arizona (picture) Chinese Vice Minister of Education Lu Xin held talks with Arizona Department of Education officials and ASU leaders. On November 14, at the invitation of the U.S. Department of Education, Ms. Lu Xin, Vice Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Education, led a 10-member delegation including Zhang Xiuqin, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Yang Jun, Director of the Division of International and American Studies, to visit the Arizona Department of Education and state universities, including the University of Phoenix. Minister Lu Xin spoke positively of the pragmatic cooperation between the United States and China in the field of vocational education. She said that cooperation in vocational education is an important part of China’s education foreign exchanges. We are pleased to see that both parties have jointly identified multiple areas as the focus of future cooperation based on the current status and needs of their respective vocational education development. China hopes to actively consult with the United States, especially Arizona State University and the University of Phoenix, to turn cooperation ideas into concrete actions as soon as possible. Lu Xin also made suggestions on specific action plans for Sino-US vocational education and remote network cooperation. Arizona Department of Education and State University President Michael Crow appreciated China's strategic vision of vigorously developing vocational education and distance networks, and expressed his gratitude to China for attaching great importance to vocational education cooperation with the United States. He also actively responded to Lu Xin’s suggestion on the U.S.-China vocational education cooperation action plan, saying that the United States will work with China to promote its implementation. After the meeting, Vice Minister Lu Xin, accompanied by relevant school personnel, visited the network management center of ASU and the University of Phoenix and had cordial conversations with local students. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, the Arizona Overseas Chinese Association, and Phoenix International Travel Agency for their strong support and assistance during the visit. The delegation will continue to Seattle, Washington for visits and exchanges. ASU President Michael Crow (middle) hosted a banquet for Vice Minister Lu Xin and his delegation at the State University Club Auditorium. Consul Xu Cuiying of the Consulate General and Yang Wentian of the Arizona Overseas Chinese Association accompanied the delegation to inspect the online education demonstration
