Local families

(contributed by Phoenix Chinese School) The Student Representative Association of Phoenix Chinese School continued its tradition and launched a canned food donation event at the end of the severe winter. This year, with the full support of the students and teachers of the school, nearly 429 canned and dry food items were collected. On December 11, Sister Huang Yulian, the person in charge of Tzu Chi’s Phoenix City Liaison Office, accepted the donation on behalf of Tzu Chi and handed all the money to Tzu Chi for distribution to local families in need. In addition to teaching students Chinese, our school also hopes that students can learn how to deal with others. Not only must we know how to care for our families, we must also know how to care for society. Especially at this end of the year, a small donation can bring warmth to many people. This time, under the joint planning of President Wen Ji'en and members Wu Yilin, Chen Yisheng, Guo Boyi, and Wada Xujing, the Student Representative Association encourages all students, regardless of age, to participate in this fundraising event. What is particularly commendable is that the parents of Zhang Mingdao, a student in the Basic Class 1, asked the invited children to give cans instead of birthday gifts in his birthday celebration invitation, and then donated all 136 cans and dry food he received. The Student Generation Association presented a cup of Jamba Juice to the basic class 1 students who raised the most donations. It also thanked all the students and parents who participated, so that a small amount of love can bring warmth to the society.
