(Contributed by the Phoenix Branch of the College of Science and Technology) In early spring, in February, it is warm and then cold. It’s prime time for outdoor activities in Phoenix. The "outdoor friends" of the College of Science and Engineering are getting ready to take action again. How could you miss this perfect opportunity during the long weekend? Among the two options provided by the organizers, everyone unanimously chose the Nanshan one-day tour.

The artistic conception of the ancients "seeing Nanshan leisurely" is a true portrayal of the Chinese living in Fengcheng today. South Mountain Park is known as the largest urban park in the world. It covers an area of 17,000 acres and is located on "Central Avenue" in the city center. There are more than ten hiking trails ranging from 1 mile to 14 miles. People who like hiking can choose to climb according to their own physical fitness and preferences. They can climb from all directions. The roads are gentle on the east and west sides, while the mountains on the north and south sides are steeper. Today, we all meet to climb the mountain from the north.

At around ten o'clock, "alice friends" arrived one after another. From third-grade children to white-haired elders, there were more than ten people in the group. Starting towards a relatively gentle mountain road, a friend who came all the way from Casa Grande to participate in mountain climbing activities brought two puppies with him, which made the children extremely excited and the atmosphere became more lively. With God's blessing, it was a rare cloudy day, and everyone was in high spirits, chatting while walking. As we walked, the gentle mountain road became long and winding, and the clouds in the sky dispersed at some point. The gentle sunshine in the morning became hot. Everyone began to replenish water. Looking back, the parking lot where we started was still vaguely visible, and the team continued to move forward.

After climbing over a hill, I saw several handsome guys dressed as cowboys, riding tall horses, looking down at our group. One of them enthusiastically asked us to take a photo with him, and a hot girl took a photo with the handsome cowboy guy without hesitation.

Encounter with the caravan

When I saw other people riding horses, my legs started to feel sore. Everyone stopped and replenished their energy. Looking back, they saw that they had lost sight of the way they came from, so they could only keep walking forward.

Hands and feet

It was noon, the poetic mood of the morning drifted away with the floating clouds, and the sun returned to its original appearance of a scorching sun, illuminating the surroundings with white flowers. I only felt sweat seeping out from behind, the queue became longer and longer, and some people began to sit on the ground. A traveling friend took out a can of carbonated drink from his bag. The junk food that he usually disdains made the children stare straight at him. You and I share it bit by bit. My stomach started singing "City Plan" and my footsteps were extremely heavy. The few of us who were not determined were beginning to doubt whether we were heading in the right direction, because the hiking trails were buried in the desert bushes and were difficult to distinguish. At the critical moment, the "senior travel friend" began to encourage everyone earnestly, "Now is the real beginning of weight loss. If you give up, all your previous efforts will be wasted." Is weight loss a magic horse? At this time, what is urgently needed is a shade above the head and a table and bench to rest on. Finally, a beautiful woman gently expressed our feelings, 'We don't want to climb anymore and want to go back to the pavilion in the parking lot to rest and eat.' So the troops were divided into two groups, one group continued to march to the top of the mountain, and we, the old, weak and young, turned back to the parking lot. Facts have proved that our choice was right. Later, the summit team called for help, and we drove them back to the base camp.

The legendary "Yang's Kimchi"

The picnic has finally begun. The classic and quality-guaranteed "Salt Water Chicken" and "Yang's Kimchi" are as promised, and "Li's Tea Eggs" and "Xu's BBQ" bring surprises to everyone. Basking in the sun and chatting, the fatigue and pain along the way dissipated with the wind. The sun began to turn westward, and people gradually dispersed, returning to the days that repeated day after day. Let us look forward to the next spring "hot spring trip".
