Photo report by Alberta Times reporter Deng Ling:
The annual Alberta Chinese Restaurant Association Spring Banquet was held at 10:30 pm on February 19th at the New World Restaurant. Many members and people from all walks of life gathered together, and it was very lively. The exquisite and sumptuous dinner carefully prepared by New World Restaurant wowed the guests. The banquet was full of singing and dancing, including Tibetan dance and kung fu performances, solos by Gu Yayu, Huang Xinming, etc., and "Through the Glass" performed by qigong masters Feng Junjie and Chen Zhigang. The guests opened their eyes and cheered continuously. It can be said that everyone has a part in the lottery with rich gifts and everyone is happy. The first and second prizes are 42-inch and 32-inch ultra-thin TVs respectively, which are won by restaurant club members. The outstanding students who received scholarships this year are: Bi Hanpeng, Huang Yingsi, Situ Xinhua, and Zeng Xiangli. The members of the Restaurant Association are all engaged in the restaurant industry, so each Spring Banquet of the Restaurant Association does not start until after 10:30 pm. For me who follow a normal life style, it is really psychologically stressful to attend the banquet so late. However, when I blended into the joyful atmosphere of the party and laughed and cheered with everyone, I felt that all my sleepiness disappeared. It was almost two o'clock in the morning when the party ended. Everyone happily carried large and small packages of winning gifts and happily embarked on the road home.
