Honzhou Kuang Tianquan (Uncle Jia) won the second prize in the Family Chinese New Year Gala "Family Portrait" photo collection [Alberta Times News] The award ceremony for the Family Chinese Spring Festival Gala "Family Portrait" photo collection was held in Shanghai a few days ago. Mr. Kuang Tianquan was originally from Taishan County, Guangdong. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. National Guard to participate in the Korean War. After retiring from the army, he returned to Hong Kong and married Ms. Zhu Yuying. After his marriage, he ran many restaurants in Flagstaff Port, Honshu. Mr. Kwong was a generous and generous man and was known as the "Tang Mayor" of Flagstaff Port. The Kwong couple moved to Phoenix thirty years ago and opened the famous Chinese restaurant "China House" in the state at the time. He retired only ten years ago. After Mr. Kuang retired, he loved to play mahjong for entertainment. He started the "Mahjong Sutra" column in this newspaper under the pen name "Jia Shu". Later, there were "Jia Shu's Ramblings", "Phoenix People's Talk", "Restaurant Business" and other columns. It was very popular among readers and he was named the vice president of the Chinese PEN Association of Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Kwong have five children, all of whom have achieved academic success, successful careers, and happy families. Today, they are full of children and grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Kwong Tianquan have been enthusiastic about public welfare for many years. They have never lagged behind others in local charity. They also care about the construction of the motherland and are very concerned about their fellow villagers in Taishan, their hometown. In addition to donating money and materials, they have supported many fellow villagers in the United States. For this reason, he gained great popularity in Phoenix.
