(Contributed by An Xin) On July 25, I finally gave myself a day off. I wanted to take this day off to relax and enjoy the pleasant American life after busy work. My husband and I started getting ready early in the morning. After having breakfast and dressing up, we drove to the famous brand discount store outlets shopping mall to play. We bought some high-quality and cheap clothes for our little granddaughter. Both of us were in a happy mood. After all, we didn’t have many days of shopping hand in hand with my husband. I don’t know why. We felt that we had gone shopping until noon, and felt a little hungry. We planned to eat something before continuing our shopping. We planned to return home with a full load today.
VILLA Pizzeria
After that, we happily went to VILLA I bought pizza and planned to enjoy an Italian meal before continuing shopping. Unexpectedly, a tall waiter handed me a plate of cold pizza and walked away with disdain. I said in less fluent English, please help heat it in the oven. He didn’t say anything, and just His hand placed the pizza in a less conspicuous place, but it was obvious that he did not put it in the oven. After a while, he handed the pizza to me, pointed to the toilet not far away and said to me, Restroom, Restroom. After saying that, he laughed with another waiter.
I was shocked. I didn’t ask him where the toilet was. Do I have to go to the toilet to eat pizza? I can't believe this is in the United States. I think that as a Chinese woman who is almost 60 years old, I work hard in the United States and pay taxes reasonably. No matter how good my English is, I will not suffer such insults and discrimination. I feel that my personality has been extremely insulted and hurt. My husband and I refused to comply, so we argued with him. He was very arrogant and spoke loudly in English. Seeing that we didn't talk, when I saw my husband taking pictures with his mobile phone, he hid aside to prevent me from taking pictures. After a while, he confidently called the security guard. The villain complained first. Now we were even more angry. We wanted to argue, but because our English was not good, we had no choice but to ask our friend's daughter to help translate over the phone. We told the security guard exactly what happened. At this time, the waiter was dumbfounded and stood up. I was speechless there.
After the security guard learned the truth of the matter, he first apologized to us, and then asked the tall waiter to apologize to us. This guy said very insincerely and reluctantly: I am sorry.
>The good mood was ruined like this. We were very angry. After insisting on returning the pizza we paid for, we drove home angrily. After returning home for a few days, I couldn't calm down for a long time. I kept thinking about a question: I usually meet many kind-hearted people, but why did I meet someone who insulted me so blatantly this time? Doesn’t the United States pursue democracy, freedom, and equality? What did he mean by asking me, a living person, to go to the bathroom and eat pizza? This is the first time I have encountered such a thing in the United States.
I write this article to remind Chinese friends in the United States that they must be more careful when encountering such a thing again. You cannot pay taxes legally and still suffer such personal insults. People must live with dignity, no matter where they live. If you have more comments about this news please leave a message:
