Notice on the recent acceptance of Chinese passport applications in Phoenix

For the convenience of overseas Chinese, our embassy’s document team will accept applications for Chinese passport renewal and reissue on-site in Phoenix from November 17th to 18th, 2012. Welcome to go and apply.

The specific arrangements are as follows:

Time: November 17 (Saturday) 9:00 am-12:00 noon 14:00 pm - 17:00 pm

November 18 (Sunday) 9:00 am - 12:00 noon

>The Document Section does not accept visas, notarization, authentication and other consular services this time. It only accepts passport applications that will expire before April 2014. If your passport has expired but you still have legal residence status in the United States, you can also apply for passport renewal.

1. Materials required for normal passport renewal

1. Fill in the "Application Form for Passport and Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China".

2. 2 recent (within 6 months) photos, front-facing, hoodless and decorated head, white background, two inches smaller (48mm ~ 8mm), head width 21mm ~ 24mm, head length 28mm ~ 33mm, clean and free of stains.

Note: Please do not follow the photo size requirements in the photo area of ​​the "Application Form".

3. Original and copy of Chinese passport (including passport information page, visa page, extension page).

4. Original and copy of green card or employment card in the United States. (For those who have not obtained a green card, please provide the original and copy of a valid residence visa and I-94 card; or provide the original and copy of a letter from the Immigration Bureau approving visa extension or adjustment of status.)

5. Other materials that the consular officer deems necessary for the applicant to submit.

2. Materials required for reissue or abnormal replacement of passport

1. Fill in the "Application Form for Passport and Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China".

2. Provide a copy of the original passport, a copy of the visa to enter the United States, and a report of passport loss/damage (if there is an alarm record for the lost passport, please provide the alarm sheet).

If you have ever applied for a passport renewal or extension at the Consulate General in Los Angeles, please indicate the specific time of the renewal or extension in a prominent position on the application form. If you have a copy of the extension page, please also provide it. This will help speed up the processing time of your passport.

3. 2 photos, the photo specifications are the same as before.

4. Original and copy of green card or employment card in the United States. (Those who have not obtained a green card must provide a valid residence visa, the original and copy of the I-94 card; or provide the original and copy of the certification letter from the Immigration Bureau approving the visa extension or adjustment of status.)

5. Coming to the United States through irregular means, without a copy of the visa to enter the United States.

(1) Those who do not have a passport must submit a household registration booklet, a copy of their ID card, and fill out the "Written Application" form, detailing their resume in China (including the original unit where they studied and worked), their experience of coming to the United States, their life and identity in the United States, and the contact addresses and telephone numbers of relatives and friends in the country. If you have a "Birth Notarization Certificate" issued by a domestic notary public, please also provide it.

(2) Those who have a passport must provide the original passport and fill in the "Written Application" form.

6. Other materials that the consular officer deems necessary for the applicant to submit.

3. Mailing method and charging standard

1. All application materials that have been met by a consular officer and signed on the application form can be mailed to our embassy for passport renewal or reissue.

2. After receiving the materials, the consulate may require the applicant to submit some supplementary materials based on the actual situation. Please comply.

4. Please send application materials, check, and return envelope.

Regarding checks, our library only accepts bank drafts or MONEY ORDER. Please write payable to: CHINESE CONSULATE. Please fill in the corresponding amount. No change is required and no cash will be accepted.

Be sure to clearly write down the applicant's receiving address and contact number on the envelope. Only PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL is accepted on the return envelope. Please affix enough stamps. We will send the completed passport back to you in your self-addressed envelope.

5. The normal passport renewal fee is:

55 USD/person + 5 USD (mailing fee) + return envelope

The abnormal passport renewal or reissue fee is:

105 USD/person + 5 USD (mailing fee) + Self-addressed envelope

6. Kind reminder

If you want two or more people to use the same self-addressed envelope to mail their passports, it is best to apply for a normal passport renewal, because the processing time for abnormal renewal or passport reissue cannot be determined.

4. The time required to apply for the certificate

Normally renewed passport: based on the date of receipt of the email, about 30 working days + return mail time.

Abnormally renewed or reissued passport: The time cannot be determined. Once the application is processed, we will send it back to you as soon as possible.

Due to the possibility of loss, damage or delay during mailing, please fully estimate the risk and allow sufficient time.
