More than 1,500 spectators watched this performance on the first day of the Year of the Snake. The performance was jointly organized by the ASU Confucius Institute and the New Oriental Art School. There were more than 230 performers in the performance, in addition to the New Oriental Art School. In addition to primary school students and adult class students, there were also some senior artists active in various arts groups in Alberta. In addition, 80 children from the CHANDLER Children's Chorus participated in the performance. The evening program was mainly composed of singing and dancing, interspersed with martial arts, qigong performances, solo and chorus performances, as well as violin, erhu and other instrumental music performances. The atmosphere of the entire party was joyful, peaceful, festive and lively! Compared with previous galas, this year's Spring Festival Gala has new breakthroughs in lighting, sound, and stage design. Traditional Chinese elements and modern Western elements are perfectly combined in this gala. There are both traditional ethnic song and dance performances and modern Western instrumental music performances; there are both lively martial arts stunts and funny musical sketches; there are both children's choruses by American children and singing and dancing by adult actors. In the opening dance "Dance of the Golden Snake", more than 90 actors waved colorful silks and danced wildly to the joyful, high-spirited and unrestrained music, vividly expressing the joy and joy of the Year of the Snake. Dancer Chen Si of the New Oriental Art School performed the solo dance "Flying Sky". The dancers used their bodies to match the music to interpret the flying image in the Dunhuang murals, and combined with the unpredictable lighting colors of the stage, presented a visual feast to the audience. The most eye-catching thing about the children's dance "Red Lantern" is its props. A door with Chinese characteristics slowly opened, and children in coats and red trousers rushed out holding big red lanterns. The red door, red lanterns, and red couplets combined with the traditional Chinese red color immediately brought the audience into the strong New Year atmosphere. Eighty children from the CHANDLER Children's Chorus appeared in the first program of the second half. The children sang the Chinese song "Welcome to the Spring", which was composed by teachers from the New Oriental Art School. The funny dance "Tracker's Love" was the biggest laugh of the party. Six adult men dressed up as trackers while the boys sang, and acted out the life of stretching by the river. When the female voice sounded, all six of them turned around and suddenly turned into slender women in red clothes and red trousers. The whole audience was filled with joy and laughter. Shi Yanqing, a monk from the Shaolin Temple, performed on the same stage with his Chinese and foreign disciples, using knives, spears and sticks, which made the American audience unable to control themselves. Du Songling's erhu solo "Horse Racing" opened with a loud roar of a horse, which was very shocking. The Zhuang ethnic dance "Walking among the Landscapes" is performed by more than thirty girls in Zhuang costumes. The scene is magnificent and majestic. Liu Sanjie's popular song echoes in the mountains and rivers; her graceful and beautiful dance moves in the countryside. Wow. With its prominent theme, unified movements, and colorful dance postures, the large-scale dance "Walking among the Mountains and Rivers" brings people from the noisy downtown to the green mountains and rivers, and experiences a poetic and beautiful artistic conception. Dong Wei's female solo "Love Is Long" has a sweet voice and is very popular. The three little girls dancing in the background are even more eye-catching when they are dressed in colorful clothes. Before the party started, New Oriental and the ASU Confucius Institute held a reception in the front hall of the theater. The reception was co-hosted by New Oriental President Lu Lihua and Dr. Sima Delin, Director of the Confucius Institute. Mayor CHANDLER attended the reception. Pan Shou'an, President of MESA Community College, and senior overseas Chinese leaders Yu Wenjin, Deng Chaoju, and Zhang Huafang attended and delivered speeches. They all spoke highly of New Oriental and the Confucius Institute's great contribution to the spread of Chinese culture and the Chinese community in enthusiastic words, and wished the party a success.
