Tucson City Huiming
That year, my son went to California to study. Accompanied by him, we visited various teaching buildings, libraries and memorial halls of the school, as well as their stadium, dormitories and canteens. The son is very excited because this is the beginning of his new life. Like the beautiful grass in front of the campus, it can extend far and far. As parents, we are also very pleased that the United States has given these young people such excellent conditions, so we laughed and laughed throughout the trip, and the words of gratitude kept nagging on our lips. When it was time to say goodbye, the mother hugged her son, who was a head taller than her, and the tears that could no longer be stopped flowed down. Afraid that her son would see her embarrassment, her mother buried her head on her son's shoulder and sobbed softly, unable to persuade her. After all, the son is a child. Everyone is happy. Why are you crying? He comforted his mother with the understanding of a young man. He has not yet returned in his beautiful longing. I kept repeating, isn't everything fine? I also patted my wife and tried to comfort her with the common truth that birds always fly out of their nests. Can it be comforted? My wife burst into tears during the entire return journey, in the terminal, at the ticket gate, on the plane, even when she returned home, and during conversations with her colleagues... Suddenly, like being shocked by electricity, I seemed to have returned to my youth. The difference is that we were wearing shabby military uniforms given by others, with the red paste of great men on our heads, and we were ignorantly full of longing. On the train heading west, we said goodbye to our relatives, friends and classmates on the platform with a smile. My mother went to the station to see me off alone, saying that I only had one ticket to see me off. My father, brothers and sisters were all waiting outside the station. Mom's eye circles were red, but she didn't shed any tears. I didn't hear what she said. The platform was too noisy. I think I know what my mother said. There is nothing better than the look in my mother's eyes when I say goodbye to my son who is traveling far away! A few years later, I returned to Shanghai to visit relatives. My mother’s colleagues said that my mother kept crying when she returned to the office, and no one could persuade her to stop her. I really regret that I didn't understand the meaning of my mother's tears. Meng Jiao, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, wrote "The thread in the hands of a loving mother, and the clothes on the wanderer's body, which are tightly sewed before leaving, for fear of returning later" depicts this kind of selfless and broad maternal love that does not ask for anything in return. It's a pity that I could only recite it as a child at that time! But now I feel very relieved that I finally understand a little bit of my mother’s tears. She can be sweet milk, soft palms, murmuring words, advice or even blame... I am very fortunate that although my love for a small amount of grass cannot be repaid with three rays of sunshine, it can still be used to hug my mother and repay the tears she shed for you. My mother is 93 years old this year. Can she accept the distant heart of her unfilial son?
