Phoenix City Chinese School's Submissions
Phoenix City Chinese School's annual Autumn Barbecue Events, held on November 2nd in Chandler Held at the city's Arrowhead Meadows Park. This time, due to venue scheduling issues, the event was postponed to early November. The school decided to still combine the barbecue with the Wansheng Festival costume event. Although the Wansheng Festival has just passed, the park pavilion is decorated with black and orange ribbons, pumpkins and spider webs, as well as the bright costumes of parents and students, which still makes people feel the festive atmosphere.
Ms. Chen Chunjuan, the newly appointed president of the Chinese Cultural Association this year, started inviting parents as early as a month ago to prepare a variety of specialty dishes. Around ten o'clock, many enthusiastic parents and their children arrived at the park one after another to arrange the venue. The event officially started at 11 o'clock, and everyone enjoyed the food first. The food this time includes both Chinese and Western styles. The main dishes include rice and fried rice noodles, plus side dishes, cold salads, braised dishes, snacks, etc., as well as Western-style charcoal grilled burgers, hot dogs and pizzas. There's also a wide selection of soups and thirst-quenching drinks, as well as irresistible desserts and fruit pies.
Rich delicacies
After enjoying the delicacies, the parents sat in the pavilion and chatted with their friends, while the children began to explore the game stalls. Led by senior students from the Student Generation Association, whether it was Ring Toss, Face/Body Part Painting, or Ball Tossing Cup Tower, there were long lines at every game booth. There is a photo studio in the middle of the lawn. Director Xie Jianming brought his professional camera to take pictures of the dressed-up parents and students. In addition to the game time, there was also a lottery hosted by Principal Cheng Xiuling. Afterwards, the main event - the tug-of-war competition - came on stage, bringing the event to a climax. Everyone shouted loudly and tried their best to win the championship for the team, which made the spectators cheering on the side also feel the tense atmosphere.
Face Painting
Last but not least, the children’s favorite activity was Pi Tao beating, which attracted everyone’s attention. This time the school prepared two pi buns, a cute Hello Kitty and a naughty monkey shape. When the Pi Tao was broken and the candies fell out, the children rushed up and the whole barbecue activity ended with laughter.
