The experience of "Sister China" is worth learning from - Phoenix Beauty Pageant Report (4) Zhang Zhaohong On May 24, we interviewed Ms. Helen Yee (translated as Helen Yu) who was once the "Miss Talent of Chinatown All-American". The 1977 Miss Chinese Phoenix beauty queen and the 1978 National Talent Champion is still as stunning as ever. She also brought a wealth of beauty pageant data, including the Queen's laurels and attires, as well as the Kingsoft Times, China Youth Morning Post, San Francisco Chinatown New Year's Celebration Special Issue, Feinian Overseas Chinese Federation National Day Special Issue and beauty pageant advertisements, etc. It was dizzying and eye-opening. It also allowed us to see for the first time the report of the "Miss Chinatown America" beauty pageant in San Francisco that year. These materials really filled our gaps in this area. Yu Ailian was born in a large family with five brothers and two sisters. She is the eldest daughter and the second. Her father owned Food.Market back then. Besides studying and working, Yu Ailian loved learning martial arts. In 1977, while still studying at the University of Phoenix, she participated in the beauty pageant and conquered the judges with her comprehensive martial arts performances such as boxing, kicking, and swordsmanship, and won the Phoenix Chinese "Miss Talent" and "Miss Chinese Business" double championships. The following year, Ailian Yu was recommended and sponsored by the Feinian Overseas Chinese Federation and went to San Francisco to participate in the Miss Chinatown National Finals. The National Miss China finals were very exciting. Let’s take a look at the report of the Jinshan Times that year: "The Miss Chinatown America Pageant sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce was grandly held at the Meisheng Hall on the evening of February 10th. After a lot of competition, the most beautiful Miss Li Yibao ascended the throne of Miss Chinatown America, and Yu Ailian was Miss Talent. The beauty pageant stage is a semicircle, with flowers on it and several swaying orange trees, which represent the good fortune of the New Year. A band composed of more than ten Westerners played orchestral music. The fifteen contestants held the same incense fans and wore colorful fashions, dancing gracefully to the song "Spring Festival Flowers". The formations were varied and the postures were alluring, leaving everyone overwhelmed. The beauties immediately retreated to the background like a glimpse, and the mayor of San Francisco delivered a speech, hoping that this traditional celebration would bring back the glory of Chinatown. The score of the beauty pageant was 30% for appearance, 25% for talent, 20% for swimsuit, and 25% for wisdom. The total score was 100 points. The climax of the beauty pageant is the talent show. No. 14 Liang Fengqiong performs Hawaiian hula. The more her hips swing, the more enthusiastic the audience's applause. No. 3 Zhang Mei wears a red brocade phoenix costume and performs a guzheng song "Fishing Boat Sings" like beads on a jade plate. No. 1 Li Yibao performs a Tahitian folk dance. He wears a five-foot-high crown on his head and holds a giant lava fan in his hand, painted with light pigments. Therefore, during the dance with the lights off, no one is seen, but the crown is visible. The movement of the grass skirt was exciting. No. 2 Yu Ailian actually performed Chinese kung fu, accompanied by the English song "Kung Fu Boy". She was punching and kicking, and the audience was shouting and talking. Suddenly Yu Ailian danced a pop dance with the change of music, and the audience burst into laughter. With such a combination of soft and hard skills, it is no wonder that she won the honor of Miss Talent. " Because of her outstanding talents, Yu Ailian "won a lot of applause and applause" with her kung fu, kendo and dance. At the age of 26 and only five feet tall, she finally outsmarted fifteen beauties and was crowned Miss Talent Champion. In this Chinese sister final, the beauty's confidence and strength are of course important, but the performance test, the use of clothing and props cannot be ignored. Its essence still has a lot to learn and learn from today's beauty pageants. Thirty years have passed, and no other beauties in Phoenix have won the honor of Miss Talented Chinatown America. This has to be said to be a pity in the beauty pageant. This is a pressure and a motivation for the organizer, the Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation. They encourage and work hard every year, hoping that one day they can reproduce and surpass this glory! I would also like to remind the beauties in Phoenix who want to become famous that if they want to achieve results, they cannot just rely on luck and improvisation. If they work harder, success will naturally come naturally when the opportunity arrives. On May 27, the beauty pageant beauties from Phoenix made their first collective appearance at the Chinese Senior Citizens Center and volunteered at a party to welcome the "Visit of the Chinese American Seniors Association of Greater Washington." On May 30, Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation President and Vice President Deng Chaoju and Zhang Huafang will personally lead the team and lead the beauty pageant contestants to Los Angeles, California, to visit the Chinese Association of Los Angeles and Phoenix TV America Headquarters. This is the first time in the 41 years of the pageant that the Phoenix City beauties have collectively visited and studied outside the state. The alternative and fashionable global "Miss China", Phoenix TV's "Miss China", will give personal opinions and lectures to the beauties. The next phase of the "2011 Upgrade Beauty" campaign has begun, so stay tuned for more exciting reports. Zhang Huafang donated party cakes and the beauties distributed them to all the guests.
