"Water Cube Cup" Overseas Youth Chinese Song Contest Arizona Division Scoring Successfully Concluded (Picture) [Submission from the Arizona Competition Organizing Committee] Last Saturday, June 4, the Arizona division referee team scored the contestants from this division who participated in the "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Youth Chinese Song Contest. Sixteen contestants won the "Water Cube Cup" and "Arizona Division 2011 Outstanding Singer Award". The list of winners is (arranged by surname): Cai Yashuang, Dong Lingjia, Gao Weijia, Liang Yuchen, Ruan Wang, Tongren, Tongwei, Tongxin, Wang Wen, Xiong Wei, Yan Jieya, Ye Ruxin, Yu Yanmei, Zhang Yujia, Zhao Yi, Zheng Manji. Among them, four contestants, Cai Yashuang, Gao Weijia, Yan Jieya, and Zhao Yi, will represent their region in the national finals in order to select contestants who will represent the United States in Beijing to participate in the "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Youth Chinese Song Competition. Some of the young people participating in this competition are from four Chinese schools in the state: Tucson Chinese School, Tucson Mandarin Chinese School, Modern Chinese School, and Hope Chinese School; there are also other young people in the state. Since New Mexico does not have a competition area, the contestants from this state are also included in this competition area. The contestants are Chinese teenagers from the United States, various provinces and cities in China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and other places, including Manchu, Han and Hui, ranging in age from 14 to 26 years old. The content of the songs performed by the contestants in this competition area is healthy and fresh, with a wide range of songs, including old songs familiar to parents and the latest songs spread on the Internet. The contestants showed an active participation mentality and youthful spirit in the application process and singing, and also showed a certain level of singing ability and quality. The organizing committee looks forward to the contestants in this competition area winning the national finals, and also looks forward to more opportunities for young people to participate in Chinese cultural activities in the future. The chief referee of this division, Mr. Zheng Xiaozhong, a doctor of music, presided over the scoring event. The referees from four Chinese schools, Mr. Li Guohua, Ms. Wang Nan, Ms. Chen Yi, and Ms. Wang Guixian, the two co-chairmen of the organizing committee of this division, Zhu Yan, Lei Hong, and organizing committee members Xie Ming and Shuai Zhiruo all attended the scoring event.
