Families adopting Chinese children gathered at the consulate general to celebrate Children's Day and the Dragon Boat Festival (photo) Alberta Times At noon on June 5th, the hall of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles was bustling, with children's laughter and warm applause coming from time to time. The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles held a party with the family networking organization "Families with Children from China" and invited more than 30 families who adopted children in China to participate. The event provided a rare gathering opportunity for families who have adopted children from China. Consul General Qiu Shaofang of the Consulate General sent a message to the children, hoping that they would thrive in the United States, actively learn Chinese, understand Chinese history and culture, and become a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and the United States and little ambassadors of Sino-US friendship. AL-Bert Olson, chairman of the Adoption Organization Association, expressed his deep gratitude to the Chinese Consulate for caring about adopted children. He said that these little angels are the common wealth and hope of the United States and China. The Adoption Organization Association will continue to work hard to familiarize children with American culture and learn more about Chinese culture. This event also specially designed related programs to allow Chinese dolls who grew up in the United States to have a basic understanding of the culture of their mother country. The event played a promotional video on China's national image, held prize-winning quizzes on basic knowledge of Chinese history, geography and humanities, Chinese ethnic minority dances, Chinese kung fu performances, and also played traditional Chinese "drum-passing flowers" and "scramble for the stool" games with the children. The children had a great time playing and were very interested. In the quiz show with prizes, there are all kinds of childish and cute children, and their innocent answers make people applaud and praise them. Sometimes they make people laugh and make the whole audience laugh. The reporter also noticed that the children had a close relationship with their adoptive parents. You see, the shy little girl wanted to participate in the game and forced her mother to accompany her; some snuggled in her mother's arms and acted coquettishly; some opened the prizes to show their fathers. Several families adopted two children, one older and one younger. In particular, there were triplets who looked exactly the same and followed their parents hand in hand. The Consulate General presented each child with small gifts with Chinese characteristics such as Chinese books and mini zodiac rabbits. It also prepared exquisite lunches and small rice dumplings to let the guests feel the special meaning of eating rice dumplings during the Dragon Boat Festival. Consul General Qiu Shaofang sent a message to the children to thrive and the deep love between mother and daughter
