The Asian-Chinese community supports Claude Mattox’s candidacy for Phoenix mayor (picture) Alberta Times Xie Chengyan There are six candidates running for mayor of Phoenix this year, one of whom is Mr. Claude Mattox, who is often seen at Chinese community events. At 6 pm on July 13, a Claude Mattox election support meeting was held at the Red Pot Restaurant on Thomas Road, Phenomenal City. Senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin, Chairman of Greater Phoenix Overseas Chinese Association Deng Chaoju, Vice Chairman Zhang Huafang, Overseas Chinese Affairs Councilor Gao Zhizhong, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Restaurant Association Mei Shude, Director Lu Shaoming, Vice President of the Kaiping Association of Alberta Guan Zhaofeng, President of the Overseas Chinese Federation Fei Jian, Chinese Zheying Association Chairman Cui Zengqi, Chairman of the Chinese Federation Qiu Shunxiong and his wife, Sichuan and Chongqing Association President Chen Zhigang, Yu Fengcaitang representative Yu Wenze, Asian Real Estate Association Chairman Zhang Shengyi, Taiwan Heritage Week Chairman Zhang Qingling and Hualien consultant Lu Meilan and his wife, Asia Times News Director Xie Chengyan, Wait, more than 20 heads of Chinese associations, as well as friends from Vietnam and the Philippines, have participated in this election campaign. They will become the main force of the Asian campaign team. At the meeting, Claude Mattox introduced his 11 years of community service experience in Phoenix. After taking office, he will be committed to building safe communities, promoting school improvement, creating high-paying jobs for citizens, effectively running the city's government functions, and providing high-quality services to the citizens of Phoenix. In addition to Claude Mattox's self-introduction, the most exciting part of the scene was the questions asked by the guests. Deng Chaoju asked: In today's difficult economic situation in the United States, how will he improve the investment environment in the community after taking office? Claude Mattox said that providing the best investment policy is the government's first consideration. I will work hard to win the support of the state government and improve various aspects such as taxation and investment procedures. He also proposed some very favorable policies in Texas and said he would work hard to learn from them. Fei Jian, chairman of Hualian, asked, what advantages does he have compared with other candidates? Claude Mattox said that several of the candidates have had experience in serving in the government. His own experience was that he completed his work well from beginning to end, which can be said to be a good explanation to the citizens. Of course, your own work experience is also your greatest asset. He served during a period of government financial difficulties. How to make key decisions under the premise of greatly reducing the government's financial budget? In order to ensure the normal operation of the Phoenix Elderly Activity Center, he had to support the government in increasing food taxes. He knows that there will be gains and losses in any decision, but how to make trade-offs in the face of major decisions and to ensure maximization of returns is an important part of the decision-making. Others raised issues such as immigration policy and negotiation of foreign investment projects. Claude Mattox gave everyone a satisfactory answer very directly. In just three hours, friends saw the handling style of mayoral candidate Claude Mattox, who is clean and tidy, does not avoid sensitive issues, and has a sense of service that truly considers the interests of the citizens. Guests present expressed their support for Claude Mattox's candidacy. The meeting approved: A fundraising banquet for Asian Chinese to support the election will be held at Luk Fook Restaurant on July 26. Friends who support Claude Mattox are welcome to attend and we look forward to electing the most suitable mayor in the minds of the citizens. The fundraising banquet costs $35 per person, $20 of which will go to the Claude Mattox campaign fund. As far as the reporter knows, the election law stipulates that the upper limit of each voter's donation to a candidate is US$430, which cannot be exceeded.
