Parks Learning Center student Shohan Khan went to Washington, DC from June 16 to 19 to participate in World Children’s Day. As an Arizona finalist in the 2011 International Children’s Art Olympiad, other people’s artworks were also displayed on the occasion.
This year’s fourth World Children’s Day was held at the National Mall. No other educational or entertainment-related program in world history can compare to this show. The general representatives of World Children's Day are children aged 8-12 from various countries in the 4th Art Olympiad (sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee); "DC Ambassadors" selected by DC public schools through the Art Olympiad; and musicians and other performers aged 6-16 who were selected by netizens or outstanding juries. Education projects for World Children's Day all use the International Children's Art Foundation's "Peace through Art" methodology.
The 4th International Children's Art Olympiad is an international art competition organized by the International Children's Art Foundation every four years. Each year, children aged 8-11 from around the world register more than 15,000 different artworks. From these artworks, judges will select 100 finalists: 50 from the United States (one from each state) and 50 from countries around the world. The students' artwork was exhibited in Washington, DC, USA on World Children's Day.
In the first half of this year, Parks Learning Center’s “Future City” middle school team recently won two awards in the “Future City Statewide Competition”. The trio's city, "Heartville," received an overall excellence award as well as an award for best transportation system from the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). ITS later invited three middle school students Mustafa Bouanani, Iman Bouanani and Kiram Tung to attend a luncheon.
