Statement from the American Federation of Peaceful Reunification Associations (Alberta Times) Be wary of and curb the harm caused by Tsai Ing-wen’s ten-year platform to peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait. At a time when peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait has made great progress and people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait hope to maintain a good trend, DPP Chairman Tsai Ing-wen has recently launched a ten-year platform. Its national security strategy chapter and cross-strait economic and trade chapter seriously involve and damage cross-strait relations. She attempts to use this distorted argument to strengthen "independent" Taiwan and build a consensus on "separating the country." We, the American Federation of Peaceful Reunification Associations and all member groups, sternly condemn and oppose their obsessive and stubborn attempts to perpetuate "Taiwan independence." Wang Yi, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, solemnly pointed out, "The cause of peaceful development of cross-Strait relations is like a building built by compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait with the joint efforts of compatriots on both sides. The foundation of this building is to adhere to the '1992 Consensus' and to oppose 'Taiwan independence.' We fully agree and support it. We are concerned about and warn Tsai Ing-wen and the "Taiwan independence" forces, and all attempts to demolish the foundation of this building will not succeed. The fundamental intention of this "ten-year political platform" is to plot an extremely blatant attempt to "change the situation" and "turn over" the island again. It not only arbitrarily denies the correct direction of the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations in recent years, but also tries its best to reverse the direction of continuing the path of "Taiwan independence." It is obviously contrary to the current trend of peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait and will inevitably trigger another turmoil in cross-Strait relations. The fundamental key to this "ten-year political platform" is to repeat the dangerous rhetoric and behavior of "one country on each side" and the "special two-country theory" that divide China. In fact, Taiwan is regarded as a "country" that is a "maritime country" alongside China, and cross-strait trade relations are tampered with as "international" trade relations. Although it ostensibly accepts the legitimacy of ECFA out of consideration for Taiwan's interests, it not only reserves the insidious foreshadowing of "adjustment", but also directly denies and refuses to recognize the "1992 Consensus" that gave birth to ECFA. Taking away the soul of the "1992 Consensus" and destroying the cornerstone of the "1992 Consensus" are not innocent and ignorant, but deliberate deception and stirring up trouble. Facts have completely confirmed that the dream of a "Little British Dynasty" is the nightmare of Taiwan independence and separatism. Our federation will go all out to reunite with overseas Chinese in the United States and around the world to seriously prevent this nightmare of Taiwan independence. We will make every effort to prepare and host the global overseas Chinese conference in Washington to promote the peaceful reunification of China in mid-September, setting off a new upsurge of peaceful development, anti-independence and promotion of reunification!
