Congratulatory letter from Beijing Overseas Chinese Federation Chairman Li Zhaoling to the Overseas Chinese Federation Beijing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Arizona Chinese Federation Dear President Fei Jian and Director Tao Shicheng: I am pleased to hear that your association will co-organize the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day celebrations with Arizona State University. On behalf of the Beijing Overseas Chinese Federation, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to your association and my cordial condolences to all the overseas Chinese in the federation. In the five years since its establishment, the Arizona Overseas Chinese Federation (Hualian) has aimed to promote economic, trade, technological, and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States, and has served the overseas Chinese community as its purpose. It has done a lot of fruitful work for the economic construction and social development of the local area and hometown. Over the past five years, your association has successfully held a series of activities such as "Phoenix Night", the ACUA Table Tennis Open, and the 30th Anniversary Photo Exhibition of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the United States. It has actively organized and coordinated the consulate to provide convenient consular services to the local overseas Chinese, and has played an active and important role in prospering the Chinese community, improving the good image of the overseas Chinese, helping the Chinese integrate into the local society, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese, promoting the economic, social and cultural development of China and the United States, and enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and American peoples. Overseas Chinese are the bridge and link between China and the world. China's development achievements over the past decades of reform and opening up cannot be achieved without the strong support and participation of overseas Chinese. I hope that in the future, your association will continue to make use of its unique cross-cultural advantages, adhere to the fine cultural tradition of the Chinese nation's unity and harmonious development, put the interests of overseas Chinese first and the development of overseas Chinese communities first, continue to enhance unity, gather strength, strengthen collaboration, and make new and greater contributions to promoting China's economic and social development, promoting the inheritance and promotion of Chinese culture, and enhancing the friendship, exchanges and cooperation between the peoples of China and the United States. As our association is busy with the re-election and National Day preparations in September this year, we regret that we cannot be invited to attend your association’s double celebration activities. We sincerely hope to organize a delegation to Arizona during the Spring Festival next year to participate in your association's New Year celebrations and express our condolences to the local overseas Chinese. I wish this Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day celebrations a complete success. Vice Chairman of the China Overseas Chinese Federation and Chairman of the Beijing Overseas Chinese Federation Li Zhaoling July 16, 2012
