(End of the Alberta Times news)
The "Chinese Silk Strings Night" concert will be held at 7 pm on November 4 at the Cole Cultural Center of Arizona State University (6110 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale, AZ). The famous Chinese pipa artist Chen Yihan and the Chinese guzheng artist Yao An will bring the audience a fascinating night of Chinese silk strings. In this concert, the audience can listen to the traditional pipa piece "The Overlord Disarms". Chen Yihan will use the pipa in his hand to create a tragic heroic image for everyone who would rather die than surrender in the face of failure. The music uses tragic tones and angular sound patterns to express the hero's multi-faceted character. In addition to traditional pipa music, there are also modern pipa songs. "Old Tong" by the famous pipa artist Liu Dehai will create a sense of picture in the hands of Chen Yihan, allowing you to feel the picture of a living old boy. At the same time, the full use of the pipa "rebound" technique in this piece will dazzle the audience and be mesmerized. Ancient town artist Yao An will perform "Jackdaw Playing in the Water", one of Chaozhou's traditional guzheng pieces. By changing the key of the notes, combining pressing and sliding, alternating high and low octaves, and using her fluent and brisk flower fingers, she depicts the scene of jackdaws playing on the water in late autumn, expressing her love for nature. What kind of wonderful melody will the pipa with rich high-pitched range and the guzheng with deep bass play together, and "Moonlight Night on the Spring River" will bring you a whole new feeling. Pipa artist Chen Yihan won the third prize in the Junior Professional Group of the ART Cup Chinese Musical Instrument International Competition in 1989. In 1995, she won the third prize in the Fuliton Cup Chinese Musical Instrument International Competition. She visited Japan, France, the United States, Poland, Portugal, Macau, Italy, Canada and other places to perform. Guzheng artist Yao An has left his beautiful guzheng sounds in famous concert halls around the world. If you want to appreciate the charm of traditional Chinese musical instruments, please listen to the "Chinese Silk String Night" on the evening of November 4th.
